Muscle cars are often seen to be the epitome of rebellion and freedom – hence, it was widely embraced by the people, regardless of whether it was a necessity or not.

The 1960s was an integral part in the history of muscle cars. It was when these powerful beauties were the biggest thing to hit America. Nobody needed such a powerful car but everybody wanted it. Marketing and promotion went a long way for muscle cars – they were expensive and more often than not, only the upper echelons of society could afford them. People of lesser financial standing chose to buy the muscle cars' lesser-powered cousins just because the latter still looked like muscle cars.

Automobile makers were of course forced to make their respective muscle cars what it really should be: fast and powerful. It was a competition between big car companies – who could make their cars stronger and who could market them better. Drag races showing the speed and power of muscle cars were rampant in the 1960s. It was unlawful but nobody cared; rebellion was the only way to go.

These drag races proved to be useful, if not dangerous. It was in these demonstrations of speed were the automakers themselves came up with new parts that will make their muscle cars even better. Pushing the limits even more, the automakers
were backed up by executives of automobile companies. Everyone who wanted to be someone came, watched and researched about the different muscle cars that showcased their speed during races. Mini-factories were even set up to make the already-better cars...even better.

This was the time when popular names in the muscle car world came to be: Nickey Chevrolet, Royal Pontiac and Holman-Moody were just some of them. The small factories that tweaked the muscle car settings became well known in this era too, such as Edelbrock for manifolds, Iskenderian for camshafts and Hurst for shifters. Their popularity caused other smaller companies to enter the automobile scene...

It's time to get rid of credit card debt

Want to become credit card debt consolidation in 2010? If so, you need to have a proper planning and willpower to achieve the goals you set yourself. This is because many people can only remember to refrain from unnecessary expenses, but when the actual time comes, they manage not to do so and finish with a touch that is very difficult to cope. It’s time to get out of debt and start living a debt free life.

There are some simple steps you must follow to eliminate credit card debt this year. They are all discussed below:
- The best thing to do is to organize your credit card in a decision of the highest interest rates the lowest interest rate. Then you might consider paying off the card with the highest interest rates first. This is because if you do not pay them first, will blame on those credit cards continues to increase as interest rates on these cards will continue to come faster than cards with lower interest rates. Here you must remember that you must maintain an adequate budget and eliminate all unnecessary costs. This is because, if you stick with unnecessary costs, you can not pay back debts that your money is wasted on something that is not needed.

- The second thing you can do is you can get a consolidation loan and then pay all your credit card debts. Once this is done, you can eliminate unnecessary expenses and then start paying back the consolidation loan in time. One thing that you need to know is that consolidation loans are a bit higher interest rates and because of this you should ensure that you pay your loans properly.

- The last thing you can do is that you can hire a professional solution for companies and ask them to eliminate a certain percentage of the debt through a settlement negotiated with creditors. The professional from the company will study your case and then negotiate with the lender. After successful negotiations, the lender can eliminate 60% of the debt but you will have to pay the remaining amount owed in a lump sum payment.
Debt restructuring is a viable alternative to bankruptcy and applications are becoming increasingly popular among Americans, with over $ 10k in loan debt. Creditors are willing to negotiate. You can literally eliminate 50% of your unsecured debt with a settlement. Think about that for a second. Let it sink in. Mustang worshipers may take a knee if you have to, but the reality is this: When this car hits the streets during the summer of 2006, it'll have 470-plus horsepower, making it the most powerful Mustang ever built.

Supercharged 5.4-Liter- The Shelby's supercharged 5.4-liter, 32-valve V8 is similar to the engine in the GT. Ford started with the cast-iron 5.4-liter Triton V8 truck engine and added aluminum heads from the GT, specially calibrated camshafts, a Roots-type supercharger making 8.5 pounds of boost, and a water-to-air intercooler.

That's a supercharged 450-plus-horsepower, supercharged 5.4-liter V8. The rear air splitter is flanked by chrome exhaust tips and all developed for curved road racing wins.

A screw-type supercharger with an air-to-water intercooler, generating 9 pounds of boost, forces air into the cylinders, each of which has four valves. Many of the engine components, such as the aluminum piston heads and bearings, came from the development of the Ford GT. A T56 six-speed manual transmission is also part of the GT500's powertrain, but there's no technological innovation here. The T56 is a tried-and-true, race-proven transmission that is very capable of handling the V8's horsepower. The gearing is evenly spaced to allow the engine to use all of its torque to drive the rear wheels. So what does all that hardware get you? According to Ford, the GT500 will generate 500 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 480 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm

Kenwood has been producing high quality sounds

Kenwood has been producing high quality sounds for our listening pleasure for a very long time now. From them, you can learn how people have been using these products.

Ford RS200 1984-1986

Think of the most stirring motoring moments you’ve ever witnessed and there’ll almost certainly be a Group B episode or two in there. Group B left an impression like no other branch of motor sport. The problem was, it left too big an impression for all the wrong reasons: deaths were an integral part, so it was no surprise when the series was canned before many of the key cars had even been fully developed.

One example was the RS200, set to crush its rivals only to have the plug pulled before it had even got going.

The RS200 project started in 1983; Ford needed to get a competitive rally car developed and built as quickly as possible. It would have four-wheel drive, and a unique shape so it wouldn’t immediately be obsolete. There would also be an incredibly rigid chassis of honeycombed aluminium, steel and composites, over which was to be draped a composite bodyshell, the whole lot powered by Ford’s 16-valve BDT twin-cam engine.

October 1985 saw the first production cars built. By then the RS200 had already won its first works outing, the Lindisfarne Rally. It won a few more rallies at the start of 1986 but the writing was now on the wall for Group B. The final production cars were made in January 1986 but, by the time they were delivered to their new owners at the end of that year, the RS200’s competition career was over.
Because of the cancellation of the Group B series, some potential owners decided they no longer wanted their cars. As a result Ford never made the full quota of 200 vehicles: records show 158 vehicles sold. Ford apparently stripped down 50 cars already built, to resell them with extra equipment fitted.

How to Clean Leather

One of the first fabrics that man fashioned to wear or use, leather has been a popular material from its beginnings. Leather is a beautiful, long wearing, breathable, natural fabric that has multiple uses, i.e., clothing, shoes, furniture, luggage, and vehicle interiors. This valuable fabric is an investment that will last for years if it is treated with care. Owners want to know how to correctly clean leather products because leather can be quickly ruined if handled incorrectly.

Leather hides can be categorized as belonging to several types, depending on the process to preserve the hides. The piece of leather can be smooth, suede, dyed in a variety of ways, coated, or tanned naturally. The dye used to color the fabric can be of different types that demand different handling. A product that works beautifully on one type of leather can permanently stain a different type. It is important to read any manufacturer's instructions to understand what type of finish was used to create the item.

There are general rules for how to clean leather, however. These rules apply to how to clean car upholstery, belts, purses, jackets or other clothing, as well as furniture, luggage, and leather shoes. All leather needs an environment that is not too wet, not too dry, not too hot, or not too cold. Any extremes in the atmosphere can cause irreparable harm to the hides.

Because leather is a natural fabric, it needs to breathe. Store leather in a cool area where it can have air circulating around it. Its color can also fade if it is kept in full sun. Furniture should be placed carefully in a room to avoid exposure to direct sunlight. Cars with leather seats need to be stored in a garage to preserve the color and to avoid permanent marks from the sun shining through the windows in the same pattern daily.

Leather can also dry out over time. Exposure to heat or direct sun can hasten this drying process. Moisture can and should be restored to the leather by rubbing in conditioners on a regular basis. This conditioning also helps leather repel some substances that might soak into a dried-out piece. Removing stains can be a challenge on leather goods. Only use products that are specially formulated for safe use on leather. Always test the product on an inconspicuous spot to see if its use will change the color of the item. If the garment is one of a set (for instance, one of a pair of gloves) treat both items to maintain a color match. Small spots may respond to careful application of alcohol, corn starch, or cuticle remover applied with a cotton swab. This last suggestion will work by removing a thin layer of the leather, so be careful to test in an inconspicuous spot on dyed items. A water-stained garment may be saved by wetting the entire garment to attempt to match the "new" color.

An expert may need to be consulted to discover how to clean car upholstery that has unusual or extensive stains. Following a regular maintenance schedule and wiping up any spills immediately should keep the interior of the car attractive and comfortable.

Certain natural leather finishes can be permanently stained or turn a different color if exposed to too much water or other liquids. One key rule is to clean the piece immediately, before a substance has a chance to soak in or dry onto the hide. Homeowners should not panic or look the other way when their leather furniture is spilled on or marked because they are unsure how to clean it.

Leather, because it is a natural fabric, should be maintained by washing at least twice a year. This washing should be done gently, by hand. Use a mild soap or a saddle soap. (A good, all-purpose leather cleaner is Fuller Brush's Vinyl and Leather Cleaner/Polish/Protectant.) Create suds in a bowl and apply the suds to the leather surface with a soft cloth or sponge. Do not use the soapy water. Be careful to keep the cloth barely damp -- not wet. After washing, buff the leather item dry with a second soft cloth. Do not try to dry the leather item near heat, as this will cause the leather to become brittle and possibly shrink. After washing and drying the item is complete, rub a good leather conditioner into the fabric. This conditioner serves to protect the leather from spills or stains, and helps keep it soft and supple. If unsure about using a leather conditioner, the manufacturer's directions will explain how. Clean leather by hand, gently, with the proper products, and this fabric will last for years.

Toyota Prius - A Review on the All New Hybrid Car

According to latest hybrid car reviews and environmentally-friendly car news, a lot of icons and regular individuals alike have publicized that the new Toyota Prius is just what the doctor ordered for Green car fanatics. This green car is seen as a considerable step towards controlling global warming and issues related to pollution. No wonders the car has very soon become an object of desire for folks around the world. Let us go through some car information in this car blog green, on how well the Toyota Prius shapes up as an ideal green car.

Firstly, Toyota has created a pioneering power train, which merges a (gasoline) internal combustion engine with the electric motor; thus improving fuel economy and lowering emissions to a big extent. According to natural car info sources, it is possible to swap between the car’s dual power sources; on occasion it runs on battery alone. The car’s braking system recycles the energy - which typically goes waste as heat - into electricity.

The Prius also has some unique features, like the space age type control panel and constantly variable transmission. Nickel-metal hydride battery is used – which prevents the need for disposing deadly toxins. Instead of cadmium, a hydrogen-absorbing alloy is used for the negative electrode, while the positive electrode is of nickel oxyhydroxide; this improves the battery capacity to three times that of a usual battery.

A major disadvantage in this car - apart from the high cost - is that most autonomous mechanics wouldn’t know how to service a hybrid. However, there are some benefits too. For example, you can avail tax exemptions and financial incentives for buying hybrid cars. Other advantages include super mileage (as with most electric cars), lesser pollution, and a less toxic battery. However, it would be much better if the cost is reduced by a good level. The engine too can be trimmed down in size; to make it more affordable for everyday consumers.

Top 5 Nostalgic Indian Cars

Indian roads have been graced by numerous cars till date. Some of these cars were phased out and many still continue to exist. Some of these cars were renovated to match the latest trends. In spite of all these, there exist a handful of cars that have etched into the minds and hearts of all Indians. There was once a time, when these cars ruled the Indian roads with their ubiquitous presence. They are nostalgic to all Indians. Let us call to our minds our most favourite cars that now exist in history books.

1. Hindustan Ambassador

The Hindustan Ambassador, fondly called the Amby, can boast to have graced Indian roads for over sixty years. The car came into being in 1954 at the mill of Hindustan Motors. The oldest design of the Ambassador was taken from the old Morris Oxford model. The Ambassador is the biggest example of generous interior space. The seats used to be comfortable, upright and perfectly cushioned. The car had plenty of legroom and head space and a huge boot. The car had been made to suit the Indian roads.

2. Premier Padmini

The Premier Padmini was dominated Indian roads from 1968 to 2000. Now this car is found plying on the roads of Mumbai as a taxi.
The Premier Padmini debuted in India as the Fiat 1100D with a 1,089 cc 4-cylinder engine. With minor facelifts over a period of time, the Fiat 1100D was named Fiat 1100/103, Fiat Millecento, Fiat 1100-Delight, Premier President and finally became the Premier Padmini. The Premier Padmini was the most favourite family car which was designed for Indian road conditions.

3. Sipani Dolphin

The Dolphin was manufactured by the erstwhile Sipani Automobiles. The Dolphin was the clone of the Reliant Kitten. The car came with an 848cc Reliant engine that gave superb drivability and performance. The Sipani Dolphin was a two door, peppy car that was made of fiberglass. The car came with rear-wheel-drive. The car ceased to be with the advent of the Maruti 800.

4. Tata Estate

The Tata Estate is a Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) which is said to be the company’s first attempt to build a car. The MUV can boast of many features which were not common among cars in India at the time. Some of these features include power windows, power steering and a tachometer. The car delivered a good performance, but was out of production as it was equipped with a weak engine. The car had the TATA 207 Diesel Engine.

5. Mahindra Voyager

India’s first Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) maker, Mahindra & Mahindra rolled out the Voyager in late 90s. The Voyager had an XD-3P BM diesel engine that could deliver an output of 72.5 bhp. It is becoming popular in America.

Muscle Cars in America
A muscle car is a term referring to the high performance variety of automobiles. This term usually refers to Australian, South African and American automobile models. It is generally a 2-door mid-sized vehicle with a rear wheel drive. It also has a powerfully large V8 engine and sold at a very low price.

The very first one that came out was produced between 1960s and 1970s. In most cases, the two main purposes of muscle cars are for racing and street use. They are different from GTs and sports cars. These have two seats or 2+2, intended for touring and road racing. These are different from the muscles cars because of the small size, special nature and high cost. There are varied opinions as to whether compacts, high-performance cars as well as pony cars qualify as classic muscle cars.

The country of origin and age of a car determines if it is a classic muscle car or not. The use of the term “muscle car” occurred only after the end of the vehicle’s production. During the time when the production of muscle cars is still at its peak, the American media regard them as super cars.”

History of American Muscle Cars
Some say that the Oldsmobile Rocket 88 from 1949 was the very first breed of muscle car. It aroused the public interest for its power and speed. It featured a powerful and innovative engine, consequentially America’s very first high-compression overhead valve or V8. This engine is present in the earlier Oldsmobile body. A magazine for muscle cars said that putting a V8 engine in the hood of a typical car and running faster like a sports car belongs to the Oldsmobile.

Some manufacturers showcased a performance of limited edition and flashy models. Chrysler is among the first ones that led such vehicles to become popular. An inspired mixture of Hemi luxury car trappings and power found in Chrysler’s 1955 C-300 became the newest attraction of NASCAR. This particular model became “America’s Most Powerful Vehicle” due to its 224 kW or 300 horsepower.

The model is also one of the best selling cars of its century. The C-300 has the ability to accelerate from 0 up to 60 miles per hour or 97 kilometers per hour within 9.8 seconds. The car can reach up to 120 miles per hour or 200 kilometers per hour. After two years, another fast car became available in the market. This honor belongs to the Rambler Rebel. As said by Motor Trend, Rambler Rebel is the fastest American sedan.

Muscle cars gained popularity in the 1960s. It happened when major companies such as Plymouth, Chrysler, Ford and Dodge battled in drag racing. The Dodge 1962 Dart Max Wedge, for instance, can run a quarter of a mile drag strip with just 13 seconds. This 1962 Dart Max Wedge can run more than 110 miles per hour or 170 kilometers per hour.

Muscle car productions from other manufacturers such as Pontiac, Chevrolet and Oldsmobile occurred in 1964. Between the years 1964 and 1965, Mopar introduced its 7-liter or 426 cubic inches V8 engine, special trim and sift linkage with shifted transmission. Ford released its Thunderbolts model in the same year.

We still see these vehicles today but the owners seldom use them. They have a second car which they use to go to work everyday. Meanwhile, the muscle car is stored in a safe place in their garage, kept as a collection.

For more information on American Muscle Cars Shows and Auto & Muscle Car Part stores in Alaska please visit our website.

5 inexpensive ways to make your car look great

America is home to some of the world’s biggest car fanatics. But you don’t have to be a fanatic to like the feeling of driving a clean, classy car. Old or new, big or small, coupe or convertible, keeping your car looking good will definitely improve the look, feel and even the value.
Basic, regular car care tasks such as washing, waxing and polishing simply make sense. Beyond that, there are a number of simple, low-cost and effective ways to keep your auto looking its best. Here are 5 inexpensive ways to make your car look great:

1. Remove paint blemishes, scratches, oxidation marks and other imperfections from your car’s finish. If you do this regularly, and before your “wash and polish” regime, you can go a long way in restoring a classic “showroom” shine. Various light- to medium-duty rubbing compounds are both easy to use and safe for most common car finishes.

2. Leave the dish soap in the kitchen. Dish soap contains detergents and other harsh chemicals that dull the paint, “cloud” the finish and even cause long-term damage. Special “car wash” soaps are made to safely remove dirt and grime without stripping the protective waxes and other compounds that give your finish its “shine.” In fact, if you don’t have any mild car soap and don’t want to drive to the auto store to get some, it’s better simply to wash your car with plain water.

3. Get your car some cost-effective protection. Assuming your overall paint job is still in decent shape, you need to protect it from the elements before you can work on making it shine. There are various “one-step” cleaning products that include wax, and a single application can remove water spots and even fine scratches. The included wax will then provide the protection your finish needs.

4. Metal and trim attract attention, so they need to be in good shape, too. Any broken trim pieces should be replaced, and special metal cleaners and polish should be used to maximize the appearance of these decorative elements. This includes the antenna, wire or alloy wheels, chrome on bumpers or trim, and the license plate frames, too.

5. Don’t forget the plastic and rubber parts of the auto. Even a dried out and bent-up window molding can make your car look old and decrepit. All of the window seals, the plastic (if any) on bumpers, the black rubber/plastic design elements and, of course, your tires should also be treated with conditioner. There are specialty products that will not only lubricate and restore the plastic and rubber parts of you car, but will also restore the deep, rich black color. You can use these products on the outside components, as well as on your interior.
It doesn’t much money at all to keep a car looking decent, and just a few bucks invested in some conditioners and cleaners will help you make your car even more attractive. It is wise to treat car care as an ongoing responsibility, rather than some special and occasional event. Wash your car regularly, treat the different materials (metal, rubber, plastic) in the appropriate ways and invest enough time to do it all well.

A sharp, attractive auto, like any other art or design, is in the eye of the beholder. There are, however, some universal benchmarks for cleanliness and automotive beauty, and there are no shortcuts. You will have to get wet and expend some elbow grease, or pay someone else to do it. Of course, if you are interested in the “inexpensive” part of this approach, your savings would be lost as soon as you hired someone. If you do the deeds yourself, you will not only save your money but have the satisfaction of a job well done – and a cool ride, too!

How to Find Classic Car Parts

Classic cars usually refer to vintage automobiles. Muscle cars also known as “super cars” refer to high performance automobiles. Know more about this luxurious collection.

American automobile models produced between 1960s and 1970s are called muscle cars. These vehicles are called “super cars” during that period. The term “muscle cars” was initiated by the horsepower race. Credits were given to John Z. DeLorean who was the president of Pontiac division. He violated General Motor’s policy by putting large engine to small cars. This gave birth to 1964 Pontiac Tempest GTO which started the muscle cars explosion.

The popularity of DeLorean’s project inspired General Motors and its competitors to produce their muscle car brands. The 1960s muscle car brands include Barracuda, Road Runner, Camaro, Superbird, Cyclone, Firebird, Super Sport, Toronado, and Mustang.

Muscle Car Engines

I. V8 Engine
V8 muscle engine was developed by General Motors. It was the first one to use a high compression overhead valve. It assembled eight cylinders in two sections in one crankshaft. The use of single crankshaft gave the muscle cars faster speed and acceleration.

II. Hemi Engine
Chrysler developed this engine in the 1950s. Hemi came from the hemispherical shape of the combustion chambers. The design of the chambers allows the engine overhead valves to be positioned at an angle. The position of the valve gives an optimum flow of the fuel into the engine.

Popular American Muscle Car Models

1965 Pontiac GTO
This is the first model that started the American muscle car craze. Although, it is fair to say that the Cadillac and to some extent the Buick were more readily identified as luxury automobiles, the Pontiac has always been far more than a performance machine.

To the younger generation, the Firebird and its performance cousin the Trans Am are probably the models most readily identified with the brand, but Pontiac dealers (of those that remain!) can certainly testify to the early, glory days of the GTO.

In recent years, there was a tremendous amount of favorable press for the original launch of the Pontiac G6 and the subsequent arrival of the updated G8, both updates of the classic Pontiac performance car of bygone days.

And it is certainly lamentable that General Motors pulled the plug on the entire Pontiac brand before the general public could become more aware and knowledgeable about these significant new entrants into the Pontiac family, and before their true sales potential could be reached.

While General Motors may have pulled the plug on the brand, Pontiac can live on forever through our memories, which are now all the more poignant knowing the clock is ticking on this classic car brand.

When Henry Ford first started manufacturing automobiles, the idea was to produce a car that would transport people from one place to another, be easy to maintain and be affordable by working people. Prior to Ford's era, cars were luxury toys for the rich and famous. Such features as style, design, and image had no part in Ford's plant in 1927.

Fast forward to the 1970's when cars were now designed to project an image. And car manufacturers advertised to the image.

America has always been a youth oriented society. And from the days of the frontier, individual freedom has always been prized in America. So the Pontiac Firebird TransAm projected both images - young and free.

The TransAm was a muscle car. It must be a small car with a stylish exterior and a big engine. The Trans Am met both criteria.

While it has a long cinema career, there are two films that stand out. Burt Reynolds talked a friend into driving the truck. Keeping Sheriff Justice occupied and distracting his attention away from the truck involved many car chases and mishaps.

Yet, these stunts were so rigorous that all of them were damaged during the shooting of the film.

It is rumored that, prior to the filming, a high level Pontiac executive offered Burt Reynolds a free Pontiac Firebird if the movie was a hit. However, when Reynolds went to collect his prize, the executive had retired and his replacement refused to honor the agreement.

What is Auto Detailing? October 19th to 23rd marks National School Bus Safety Week and many parents worry about sending off their most precious cargo on the school bus each morning, but riding the bus to school is considered the safest forms of transportation. It is approximately seven times safer than passenger vehicles. Each year 42,000 people are killed in motor vehicle crashes, however, on average just six school-age passengers die while riding a school bus. According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there were 153 people killed in school bus related crashes in 2008. Sixty-eight percent were occupants of other vehicles involved in the crash; nine percent were school bus passengers, and 13 percent pedestrians. Unfortunately, there are deaths related to school bus accidents, however the percentage is relatively small compared to the total number of fatalities on the roads each year. Of course, no matter the percentages, the goal is to eliminate avoidable deaths. Some suggest that the use of seat belts could help, but NHTSA has not found any data to suggest that children are safer belted than not when riding in school buses.

Read more about School Bus Safety at Book Car Values

How To Increase The Resale Value Of Your Car

Whether you are planning to sell your car in the near future, have purchased it for investment purposes or simply want to protect your investment, increasing the resale value of your car is never a bad idea. Many people are not aware, but there are several ways to maintain your car in such a way that it will prove to be more valuable than it’s peers.

Keep it clean. Everyone likes a clean car and will consider this factor heavily when deciding to purchase a new ride. Even if you don’t intend to sell it in the near future, you should keep the car clean for yourself and your passengers. Regular vacuuming, upholstery cleaning and shampooing of the floor are the best ways to maintain your car’s interior.

Maintain your car according to the manufacturer’s guidelines and schedule. This means regular inspections, oil changes and keeping up with any other repairs that need to be done. Keeping your car operating properly will make you feel safe while operating it and will also protect your investment in the years to come.

If it’s broke, fix it. As with most cars, repairs are inevitable and no matter how hard you try, there will come a day that something needs fixed. It’s best to avoid putting off any repairs and just go ahead and have them done immediately. Anything left uncorrected can lead to a much larger, and more expensive, problem in the future. Getting your cars value as high as you can is a must because it is such a bummer to struggle to find a buyer.

Annual Check-ups! A yearly visit to the doctor isn’t just for individuals, but for cars too. Ok, so maybe a repair shop isn’t.

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt;
Car care is not about having you part with money on a range of products and service options – it is about keeping dollars in your pocket and maintaining the value of the investment in your vehicle!

Tune Up Your Engine

Tuning an engine can result in an immediate 4% increase in gas mileage or in other words, a 4% saving in cost at the gas pump.

Even better – fix misfiring or faulty spark plugs and you can improve fuel efficiency by a whopping 30% – or in other words, save 30% of the cost at the gas pump and it’s an immediate saving.

Replace Air Filters

Air filters are essential for the performance of your engine and keeping the essential working parts clear and clean.

Replacing air filters at regular intervals (even those the manufacturer says do not need replacing) is a sure -fire method in maintaining engine performance and increasing gas mileage. A clogged air filter can cost you 10% of the cost of the gas you put in so it makes sense to check them every 3 months or 3,000 miles.

There is another aspect in connection with air filters – there are a large number of air filters in a modern vehicle, far more than you may imagine and you should consult your vehicle manual (and the internet as many are in the car but not listed in the manual). Check for air filters controlling the air in the cabin as changing these will improve your passenger enjoyment (though not necessarily the gas mileage).

Read more about Gas Saving Car Care at Best Car Detailing Reviews - An informative blog focusing on Car Detailing Reviews,Car Detailing Products, DIY Car Detailing Tips and anything worth sharing.

Lexus GS 450h Review - The Pros and Cons

In today's fuel economy driven car market, manufacturers are increasingly offering hybrid designs and pushing the boundaries of the technology to deliver better gas mileage. Lexus is well on their way to leading the pack with the Lexus GS 450h, which ranked #3 out of 12 in the Large Luxury Car class in a recent U.S. News ranking. It has won numerous awards for fuel cost, retained value. The Washington Post even called it "a happy mixture of better and best."

What can you expect out of the GS 450h? It has a smooth and powerful acceleration both from a stop and when moving up to highway speeds. The Hybrid Energy drive puts out an eye-popping 340 horsepower and yet remains smooth and as quiet as a pin drop in almost any highway conditions. The handling is smooth and excellent with crisp balance in the turns. Overall between this blend of performance and a roomy and luxurious interior, the Lexus GS 450h is an amazing pleasure to drive.

You do pay for that pleasure though, the MSRP on the Lexus GS 450 is 55,000 dollars in the United States. And because of its size and power, the fuel economy is only so-so for the typical hybrid car. The large luxury nature of the Lexus means that even with the Hybrid synergy drive it gets only 25 mpg on the highway and 23 on the city. Overall it is an excellent luxury car for those who want the touch of class and elegance in their vehicle, at a slight compromise on fuel economy over other hybrids.

Classic Car Pictures

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; If you arm yourself with knowledge and an organized plan, you'll get the car you want, equipped to your liking, at a fair price.

Once you've decided on the size and type of car that suits your needs, follow these 5 simple steps.

1. Learn the "Invoice" Cost (Find out what the dealer paid for the car!)

Here's the real key to your deal: you must find out what the dealer
paid for the car so you can negotiate the price you'll pay for it. You have to find out this information for yourself and you have to be sure it's up-to-date and correct!

The best way to do this is to make a quick call to the Consumer
Reports New Car Price Service. You'll be glad you did. New-car buyers who use the service save an average of $1,300 on their purchase. For a fee of just $12, you receive a report by fax or mail that includes:

The "invoice" price (a guide to what the dealer paid for the car);
The "sticker" price (what the dealer wants you to pay);

Invoice and sticker prices for all options and packages;

Current rebates, factory-to-dealer incentives, and holdbacks;

Plus solid advice on using the information in the report to your best advantage when you negotiate the purchase of your new car.

2. Get Ready to Bargain

Your homework is done. It's all in your report in plain English with an easy-to-follow worksheet. The invoice and sticker price comparisons give you a clear understanding of your negotiating room. You're ready.

3. Start Bargaining

Ask the salesperson for the dealership's lowest markup over their
cost. And always bargain with the invoice price, never down from the sticker price. If the car you want is in tight supply, you may have to pay the full sticker price. Otherwise, $300 to $500 over the invoice price is reasonable.

4. Play the Game

The advice you receive with your report takes you through the hard part, negotiating a fair price. It takes you step-by-step through the rest of the negotiating game with professional new-car-buying advice such as.....Be wary. The dealership's "business manager" may try to sell you undercoating, rustproofing, fabric protection, extended warranty, windshield etching, etc. They're all worthless or overpriced.

5. If You Have a Trade-in. . .

Don't even mention it until you've agreed on a price for your new car. But when it's time to talk trade-in, you should know what your trade-in is worth whether you sell it privately or to a dealership. You can get that information from us, too.
